There's an ongoing debate with girls, about how most would prefer being "sexy" and "hot", as opposed to just cute. Cute is like your little sister or niece, FAO Schwartz teddy bear for that matter. For girls, calling them cute is the equivalent of a girl telling a guy that she just considers him a friend, or worse yet, an "older brother." Anyhoo, I've had this conversation multiple times with multiple people, of both genders. Usually, I come up with the conclusion that if I am cute, so be it. It is who I am and I must simply embrace it--and for the most part, I do. Obviously, being cute ain't half bad. Many people in the world strive to just be "cute," right? So to complain about it would mean that someone should just slap me in the face. Worry not, for I usually do the slapping myself. It's the same as complaining that I have sucky life, when in reality, I have a GREAT life. (And actually, I rarely, if ever, complain about my life. My life is a grand one and I love it and appreciate it with every breath. ^_^) So why the ongoing discussion on hot vs cute? It pervades nearly ever female's identity. Even guys do not agonze over it to the detail that ladies do. Many guys (I think) are very pleased to know that they are cute. I label many a dude cute without worry to their ego or identity, and they seem to be satisfied with the assertation. And yet, the last time a guy called me cute, I think I wanted to smash his face in. (Awww, she's so cute... that cute little asian chick--WTF, I feel like a four year old!!)
So the point of this diatribe wasn't actually to knock on the people who have defined me as cute. If anything, I do appreciate the compliment. A few of the guys once told me that being cute was fortunate, for there was nowhere but up for me to go. When a girl is hot, that's all that she is, whereas a cute girl can be both cute and hot, as well, as smart, witty... etc., etc.
ANWAYS, the actual point of this late night blog was to pay tribute to good friends. Even when I'm feeling extraordinarily down and blue, they have the uncanny ability to pick me up and make me smile and laugh, and without even knowing it. Thank goodness for those who can see you as you can rarely see yourself, who can shine a mirror on you that you refuse to face. Whether plain or gorgeous, reject or fabulous, cute or sexy, to view the image of ourselves that our friends had of us would be to view greatness.
Good times all, peace & joy always. =)
