Vacation's Blog

We probably too much time playing with our cameras and their shutter speeds, but with decent results in the end.

Details to come later, but the first 3 days have been an exciting whirlwind. We had hoped to go to Shanghai as well, but it was way too exepnsive and instead will be making a tour of Asia by way of Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City, and Phuket. Looking forward to plenty of good eats and good times. :) :D

PS. I got to buy ciprofloxacin (food poisoning precautionary) without prescription here in Thailand. Yeah, the drugs are not FDA regulated, but I still love it! Will stock up on the antibiotics before I go back to the US (and go against all the pharmacy ethics I learned in school). They also have oral contraceptives available OTC, but I'm not definitely not keen on leaving my motherhood status up to those unregulated babies. O_o

Some changes

In case you haven't heard and if you want to know, I'm going Flickr!

Of course, whatever is on my Picasa will continue to remain as is for eternity, or until eaten up by the internet gods.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, four more days!

Let's review

Some things I said I would do after boards.

--Cleaning my room. I swear it will be done! The new floors are almost done, I can finally take time to look for a paint color, paint the walls, and finally purchase some new book shelves. Yeah, right. Haven't even started.
--Oh yeah, buy a digital TV. I actually need to get started on this one, the new prime-time season starts soon!!
--Blackberry bold purchase!
--Caffeine detox. I have 2-3 cups a day when trying to study. It might be coming out of my pores. Well... now it's just an ice coffee before work and an iced tea for lunch.
--Hair cut. The bangs are pissing me off! Sweet monsters thank goodness, can finally look at myself in the mirror without gagging.
--Facial. I love you California, but the LA smog is causing me to break out like crazy... at least I blame it on the smog and not my lax in facial care. My face is starting to chillax (less KB?), but this may still be a good idea.
--Return to leisure reading! Somewhere in my piles of crap are piles of unread books! Still many books to go though.
--Getting (decaf) coffee with friends to chat instead of to mind meld with pharmacy books. We had tea once!
--Going to the beach on my day off. Boo, I've only been to the beach twice this summer. I live in OC for pete sake!
--SF trip.
--Taking up surfing, knitting, golfing, traveling. Erm... darnit.
--Taking up (again) yoga, guitar, tennis, following current events, care-freeing.
--Breathe.

Not too bad, si?

So in light of the fact that CaBOP hates me (or at the very least, every graduating pharmacy student of 2009) I have a window of opportunity to finally take a real vacation, a la abroad travels! Firstly though, I will have to see about my missing passport...

Now or never?

SP/PWTs, or pan-Europe trip? Just thinking out loud...

Pause

I feel like my life has been on hold because I've been trying to study every spare second this past month. After 8/03, some things I am looking forward to:

Hu-zah!

Many things I want to chat about, but in due time. For now, I'm just excited that I finally got to schedule my NAPLEX. I've been waiting all month, thinking that they were just going to reject my application because I did something stupid on it. Of course, now that I've finally scheduled it, I'm super nervous because I am not prepared at all. Anyhoo, I am thismuch closer to being a pharmacist! :)

This week will be jammed pack. Will somehow have to squeeze in cleaning room for wooden floors to be added at end of week, some gym time to look mildly decent for SD beach weekend, all the while chugging through a 40 hour work week. It will be done!

Peace Out 2008

I usually don't make resolutions, because I figure I don't end up keeping them, but I swear that in the new year I will rid my vocabulary of, or at the very least diminish, the usage of the word "like". It's so pervasive in colloquial English language, but I must stop. More verbs!!

2008: Not so stellar in comparison to other fab years in my short life, but adversity breeds character, and the downs help you appreciate the ups.

Spent NYE in NYC. Strange to not end and begin the years with the usual suspects (Mokroopals) or in the usual town (Vegas), but memorable nonetheless. Don't think I will want to ever stand outside in the cold for 8 hours in Times Square again, but at least I can now cross it of my list. The theme of our trip seemed to be "spend inordinate amounts of time standing out in the cold." The day following our jaunt in Times Square, we waited in the TKTS booth for an hour, to no avail.

Highlight of NYC trip --> Stumbling upon Morimoto and Del Posto while looking for Craftsteak. Craftsteak was closed for a private party. We skulked about the building for a bit, thinking that there may be a Top Chef party. Alas, no Colicchio in sight. Food at Mario Batali's Del Posto was delish!! Terrina was my fave dish of the night. They let us sample the olive oil gelato. 'Twas odd, but not horrific. Wouldn't mind munching on it again, but don't think I'd order it purposefully again.

So, taking a page from Kressler and Rodel, I won't make resolutions, but here are some things I am looking forward to in 2009:

--Commencement!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone can call me Dr. Kim, HA!
--Starting my career. I was once hesitant and scared about this prospect and phase of my life, but now I cannot wait.
--Month long abroad trip between commencement and career starting. This is mostly wishful thinking at this point, but I WILL make it happen!
--Permanently moving back home to my beautiful home state, land of sunshine and awesome KB. Though, definitely not looking forward to lugging all my crap back home...
--Weddings: Tracy's, Thoai's
--New chances, possibilities and opportunities for good times.

XOXO,
K
