Peace Out 2008

I usually don't make resolutions, because I figure I don't end up keeping them, but I swear that in the new year I will rid my vocabulary of, or at the very least diminish, the usage of the word "like". It's so pervasive in colloquial English language, but I must stop. More verbs!!

2008: Not so stellar in comparison to other fab years in my short life, but adversity breeds character, and the downs help you appreciate the ups.

Spent NYE in NYC. Strange to not end and begin the years with the usual suspects (Mokroopals) or in the usual town (Vegas), but memorable nonetheless. Don't think I will want to ever stand outside in the cold for 8 hours in Times Square again, but at least I can now cross it of my list. The theme of our trip seemed to be "spend inordinate amounts of time standing out in the cold." The day following our jaunt in Times Square, we waited in the TKTS booth for an hour, to no avail.

Highlight of NYC trip --> Stumbling upon Morimoto and Del Posto while looking for Craftsteak. Craftsteak was closed for a private party. We skulked about the building for a bit, thinking that there may be a Top Chef party. Alas, no Colicchio in sight. Food at Mario Batali's Del Posto was delish!! Terrina was my fave dish of the night. They let us sample the olive oil gelato. 'Twas odd, but not horrific. Wouldn't mind munching on it again, but don't think I'd order it purposefully again.

So, taking a page from Kressler and Rodel, I won't make resolutions, but here are some things I am looking forward to in 2009:

--Commencement!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone can call me Dr. Kim, HA!
--Starting my career. I was once hesitant and scared about this prospect and phase of my life, but now I cannot wait.
--Month long abroad trip between commencement and career starting. This is mostly wishful thinking at this point, but I WILL make it happen!
--Permanently moving back home to my beautiful home state, land of sunshine and awesome KB. Though, definitely not looking forward to lugging all my crap back home...
--Weddings: Tracy's, Thoai's
--New chances, possibilities and opportunities for good times.

XOXO,
K
